When Teoman opened his eyes again the first thing he saw was Aras sitting next to him. His head was lowered, his sleeves were rolled up and the cooling towel was forgotten in his hands. He looked exhausted. Like he hadn't slept at all. Teoman blinked slowly.

He looked exhausted. Like he hadn't slept at all. Teoman blinked slowly. "You look terrible" he muttered weakly. Aras looked up. For a second, something raw crossed his face before he covered it with irritation. "You nearly died" Aras replied. "Dramatic" Teoman said. "You blacked out in a field after getting bitten by a snake" Aras reminded him. "Okay, slightly dramatic" Teoman said. Aras reached for the glass of water nearby. "Drink" He said. Teoman obeyed mostly because lifting his head felt impossible. Teoman noticed it. Aras looked scared and sad. Like he'd been somewhere else entirely. "Why would you call me Demir?" Teoman asked frowning. The question sounded strange even to his own ears. Aras instinctively reached out to his pendant. Teoman noticed that as well but he suddenly felt curious so he shifted slightly despite how awful he felt. "What happened to him?" Teoman asked. Aras clenched his jaw tightly. "You don't need to know" Aras said. "Was he younger?" Teoman asked. Aras didn't answer right away. "Yeah" Aras replied. "How old was he?" Teoman asked. "Five" Aras answered. Teoman blinked slowly. "That's young" He remarked. Aras let out a quiet laugh that sounded wrong somehow. "Yeah" He agreed. Teoman studied him for a second. He wasn't good at emotional things. Actually, he was catastrophically bad at them. But even half conscious and mildly poisoned he could tell something about this hurt. "Do you really miss him that much?" h He asked quietly. Aras looked at him so suddenly that Teoman almost regretted asking. "Every day" Aras replied. Something uncomfortable twisted in Teoman's chest. The kind of feeling he usually ignored. He wasn't going to say something sentimental because he was terrible when it came to these things. Especially with Aras. He had pretended to be Demir just to see Aras's reaction so he was sure that Aras wasn't waiting for him to say anything anyway. The room went silent. Aras stopped breathing for half a second and Teoman frowned. "You look like you're going to cry" Teoman said. "I'm not" Aras said. "You literally are" Teoman said. "I'm not" Aras insisted. Teoman stared at him for a few seconds. "You know, for someone who acts emotionally constipated all the time, this is kind of concerning" Teoman pointed out. That made Aras laugh a little but it was a tired and exhausted laugh. Teoman relaxed slightly against the pillow. "What was he like?" He asked sleepily. Aras looked caught off guard. "He was...Annoying" Aras replied. "Hm" Teoman answered. "He followed me everywhere" Aras continued. Teoman snorted weakly. "Poor kid" He murmured. Aras let out an another laugh and shook his head. "He trusted me" Aras continued in a shaking voice. "You failed him?" Teoman asked. "I did" Aras replied. Teoman stared at him for a long second. His brain still felt foggy and heavy but something about that answer sat wrong with him. "You came after me, didn't you?" He muttered eventually. Aras blinked in surprise and opened his mouth to say something but closed it again when he realised that he had nothing to say. Teoman's eyelids felt heavy again. "I'm annoying and I complain a lot" He mumbled. "You do" Aras agreed. "But if your brother was anything like me...Then I don't think you failed him" Teoman said. For a second, Aras genuinely couldn't speak. Because Demir was actually so much like Teoman. Stubborn. Mouthy. Always following him around. Always reaching for his hand. And now Teoman was lying in a hospital bed half awake saying things he didn't even understand. Teoman's eyes drifted shut again. "Did you ever find him?" He murmured sleepily. Aras stopped breathing. Teoman barely sounded conscious anymore. "Your brother, did you ever find Demir?" Aras stared at him. At the messy hair. The familiar expression even now. "Yeah, I think I finally did" Aras said.
