Bidding more frequently increases your chances, it does NOT increase your ranking. Everyone should read their councils housing allocations policy regularly. All the information is there. DO NOT bid on any and every property, only bid on places you actually would consider living in. If you bid on somewhere you don't like, the council offer it to you and you've run out of refusals - you'll have to live there or they will end duty and not help.

Great video. Also if u choose to move to a hostel you can't work. The rent is extortionate and if u work u have to pay something silly like £300-600£ a week. So u are living in a hostel on universal credit £300 a month untill ur able to get a council flat

Senior Housing Officer here, if you experience DV and unable to return to your home or borough, you can also approach any council for homelessness

I would not recommend bidding on anything to get higher ranking! Someone I know did that and they got a direct offer on a really bad property even though they were in position 60. She lost her chance and they said they don’t owe her anything anymore and that she should have only bidded on something she would be happy to receive a direct offer on.

Me and my family we’ve been in temporary for 2 years been in 2 different temporary houses now , bidding every week nothings changed there’s always like around 100 people bidding per property , the housing situation is so bad in London

If you’ve become homeless because of being evicted due to rent arrears you will be considered intentionally homeless and council can decline support.

Camden is completely different btw, we don’t have bands it’s a point system and I’ve bid on some properties that have 300 others also bidding on it lol. You can also decline as many properties as you want after viewing without being kicked off the list.

Also, if someone is placed in a Temporary Accommodation by the council, make sure you don’t fall behind with rent. If you do, and then come on position 1 for bidding they will skip you. And in worse case scenario, if you get evicted from the Temporary Accommodation, you will get placed in an emergency accommodation (hotel/hostel) due to being in rent arrears.
