@domobk5: Here’s another way to find housing in NYC WITHOUT using Housing Connect or Zillow. This one is specifically for folks with disabilities. Go to: opwdd.ny.gov/providers/housing Scroll down to: “List of Integrated Supportive Housing” You’ll see different developments and provider agencies across NYC. Find buildings you’re interested in, then go to HPDOnline and put in the address. Check the building history, violations, complaints, and scroll to the bottom for management info. Then do the part most people DON’T do: Research the management company. Find their phone numbers and emails. Call them directly and ask about available units. Also look through the provider agencies listed on the PDF and start contacting them too. Ask if they assist with supportive housing placements or know about openings for people with disabilities. Most people only apply where everybody else applies. Sometimes the hidden gems come from doing extra research and reaching out directly.
