I hate “we have the same 24 hours in a day” because we literally don’t. People who say that always work 9-5 and have few external responsibilities, in my experience. I used to work 10-hour shifts overnight (midnight to 10a, sometimes longer) and my 24 hours were not “the same” by any stretch of the imagination. anyway! agree with everything you say here.

You’re absolutely not wrong however, I think this issue is amplified by the nature of the Internet. I think most people and day-to-day life really don’t think about it that much or have very strong opinions, either way in either direction. But then again that is the Internet with everything after all being online so much makes everything such a big deal than it actually is sometimes.

I’m starting to try to get back down to my normal weight . My sister passed away in October of 2024 and I just kinda shut down for awhile and gained some weight. My focus wasn’t preventing the weight gain it was making sure I stayed around long enough to lose it.

Body positivity really just means you don’t have to have self hatred and you’re still a valid person if your body doesn’t fit beauty standards due to weight or ability. It’s ok to know that you have work to do and not want to hide or d1e because of it

We were taught in dental school something called an uplifting interview. The whole concept is that we should treat our patients and celebrate the victories and encourage them to see the positive change they desire. Honestly the way I see things is if someone of happy with themselves cool but you should try to encourage them to do better as well as affirm their desire to be better

I think body positivity should be loving your body despite flaws (wrinkles, stretch marks, scars) and embracing how unique every body is. Not an excuse to wallow in unhealthy habits. And that's coming from someone who's overweight and is trying to make those changes that I need to make.

I will point out tho skinny does NOT equal healthy. Just because I am skinny doesnt mean im healthy i have a severe back injury chronic migraines and hypoglycemia along with a genetic issue where my teeth don't produce dentin correctly so my teeth break easily and get infected

I will say the weight thing absolutely depends on factors like height and muscle versus fat but absolutely definitely agree with most of this. I am 6'6 and 260 with my weight pretty much being 50/50 between muscle and fat. that is technically overweight by a bit according to being charts. I don't pay as much attention to that.
