So $1400 for bills and living expenses? That doesn’t seem like much.

are you not putting any part of your salary into a 401k at work and that $6,000 is your net?

I do this but I’m on 49k a year and 20% tax . I’m always saving as I live low income rental . Easily can save 15k a year and live on rest 🙌🏼 100 k saved already

Easy when you share expenses. Many of us live alone and everything relies on one income

how about your rent? 20% seems not enough

That’s a strategy for a couple. Even then 1200x2 for 2400 is not enough for rent, food, car and bills. Ex. 1800+800+450+350 for 3400. I prefer the 60-20-20 rule for needs, want, save. In the 60, half 30% is for house only.

I think it's impressive how having a plan for your money can completely change the dynamic of managing your finances, even if your income situation changes dramatically over time.
