If he has oily skin, get a face wash that will dry out your skin, I use what my dermatologist recommended for me which is the "Laroche Posay Effaclar Medicated Clenser" it works like a god for me. And my dermatologist recommended a gel for me to put on my acne and its called "Adapalene Gel 0.1 Acne Treatment" its works for me as well. and as a like morning wash I use something from Cera Ve its called "Cera Ve Acne Foaming Cleanser". My dermatologist told me to use: The Laroche Posay Effaclar Medicated Clenser at night with the Adapalene Gel 0.1 Acne Treatment And in the morning he said for me to use the: Cera Ve Acne Foaming Cleanser with a sunscreen and moisturizer. I use the Cera Ve one "Facial Moisturizing Lotion" with SPF. And if his skin gets too dry at night you can take a break from the Gel and use a moisturizer I use "Facial Moisturizing Lotion Ultra Lightweight Pm" Hope this helps
