@whatsmadisonreadingnow: Replying to @cupcakenova Book 87: A Man Called Ove FINALE I asked people to recommend me books they DIDN’T like, and now I’m reading them! If you want to see the timelapse of my emotional breakdown from this book, let me know. On to Book 88! Do you think it’ll be trash or treasure? #BookTok #bookish #bookstagram
I KNEW you were going to love it. And I'm glad you agree that it had NO business being on your wheel. I concur with everyone saying to watch the movie. Tom Hanks is the perfect Ove (renamed Otto).

A Man Called Ove is incredible, but then you read Beartown and realize the depth of Backman’s genius. No other author has ever made me care about characters as deeply.

i’m convinced some people suggest books to make you read them because they actually love them instead of because they actually hated it, some of the books are genuinely TOO good to be on the wheel

My first experience with him was my grandmother told me to tell you she’s sorry and I BALLED. I had just lost my grandfather and it hit a little harder then normal

Between this and Beartown Backman will forever be an auto read author for me- I’ve read his entire backlog now and he’s just so immensely talented.

I saw a movie version before reading and tbh I kind of preferred the movie.... Maybe it would have been different had I seen it second. Ove's mind is often not a good place to be-- it's great that he changed and found help and healing, but I didn't feel I needed to hear about all his internal prejudice in order to appreciate the change.

You should read When the Cranes Fly South if you like this one. I sobbed through the last 25% of it.

Spinning the wheel with tears in your eyes omg 😩 My GRANDMA recommended A Man Called Ove to me, I did NOT see the epilogue coming for some reason and called her absolutely sobbing immediately after finishing. I went to the theater twice when the movie came out 🙈
