I think ppl are misunderstanding this trend, that song is from a chapter where the ponies have their cutiemarks switched, so, "is what my cutiemark is telling me" is about something that they didn't wanted to do but they do it bc they cutie marks say so, no matter if their cutie marks don't represent them, they have it and "have" to be according it, as an example, a ballerina who wants to be a skater, but for family pressure or bc "is the only way" she is a ballerina, being someone that she doesn't want to be just because her "cutie mark" (or her life) is "written" that way.
