I live in a blue dot in a purple state. About a year ago, I heard that my city was going to provide health vending machines. I just saw my first one this week. Free condoms (both latex and latex free), pads and Narcan. I’m proud of my city for that - but it only happened because we all have the right and ability to vote.

Yesterday I had to administer Narcan to a young man in Union Square Park amidst NYU graduates in caps and gowns, their families, farmers market shoppers & protesters. I wanted to shoo away the gawkers, but my friend told me to let them see what harm reduction is. 10 minutes of my time may have saved his life and definitely educated a few more

I’m a director at a Housing First model homeless shelter, and we have a state-funded program that lets us permanently house folks in active addiction or otherwise at high risk in actual apartments. I see how much it changes lives, so grateful to be in MA where they support harm reduction!
