@kobedegoldie: We took Kobe to the vet because he lost his appetite and didn’t want to eat much. We thought this was strange because Kobe absolutely loves to eat. We didn’t think it was anything serious until they did an x-ray and found out he has a lump growing on his right side. They also did a blood test and found out that he was anemic. We then went to the hospital the next day where they found a bigger issue, his enlarged heart. The vets said his survival rate of the surgery (because of his heart issue) was very low, and even if it was successful, he would have max 3 months to live. We didn’t want to take the risk and took him home with medication instead. They warned us that he could collapse within the next few days and to prepare. I couldn’t believe it because a couple days before this he looked so healthy and was playing. We had friends come visit the week of his hospital visit which we thought were his final moments. Over time, he started showing signs of good quality of life which we are still monitoring to this day. His appetite is slowly coming back (not fully), and he still gets super excited to go on car rides, and to see people. I’m super proud of Kobe for how strong he is fighting through all of this and for trying his best everyday Thank you for the friends who visited Kobe throughout the month of April, it was a very difficult time for us. We will continue to show his progress and also the funny/joyful moments of Kobe 💛 #goldenretriever
