That is just incorrect. You get baldness/ balding pattern genes from both your parents. And testosterone is the hormone that kicks it off. Testosterone is the hormone that gives men more and thicker hair, but it also has the ability to take it all away in said balding spots.

actually it's not that simple. it was indeed proven that baldness was more likely to be linked to the copy of the mother's genes but there are multiple genes responsible for baldness and they are located on autosomal chromosomes (non-sexual ones) as well. and you have two copied of each gene, one coming from the mother and one coming from the father. moreover, there might be the version of the baldness gene on the Y chromosome too because plenty of versions of genes on sexual chromosomes X have the other version (copy) on the Y chromosome too. and during embryo development, one of them is "turned off" and it might be the mother's.

This is partially true. While there is a specific gene in the X chromosome that is associated with hair growth, no trait is hardly that simple. There are several other genes scattered across our genome that code for hair somehow. Hair is not Mendelian

Haha, that’s funny. All men on my mom’s side has hair, even my grandfather is nearing 80 with no sign of balding. And what would you know, at 17 (the same age as my dad started losing his) my hair starts aggressively receeding :D
