Crazy Town 'Founder' Epic Mazur Talks Last Speaking With Shifty Shellshock Crazy Town, a name synonymous with the early 2000s rap rock movement, was born from the collaboration of Bret "Epic" Mazur and Seth Binzer (better known by his stage name Shifty Shellshock) in Los Angeles. Their journey began in 1995 under the moniker "The Brimstone Sluggers," hinting at the rebellious energy they would bring to the music scene. By 1999, the band had evolved into Crazy Town, a full-fledged group ready to take on the world. Their debut album, "The Gift of Game," released that same year, became a massive success thanks to the catchy single "Butterfly." The song, with its unforgettable chorus, soared to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, propelling Crazy Town into the mainstream. "The Gift of Game" went on to sell over 1.6 million copies, solidifying Crazy Town's place in the music industry. Their sound, a unique blend of rap, rock, and DJ scratches, resonated with a generation craving a new sound. However, replicating the success of "Butterfly" proved difficult.
