I leave mine to build up stains for the same reason, however, I do wipe it down periodically for sanitation reasons, or if Im switching from a dark tea to light one so the light tea doesn't carry residue flavor

How long can you use the same leaves? Like if the first steep was an hour ago can I keep using them? What about 2, or 5? At what point should you throw out the leaves and replace them when you havent steeped them a bunch?

you recommended running boiling water through a teapot to clean it so that's what I do 😁 i use clear glass mugs so I can see the color of the tea and those I just wash like a regular cup. soap and water

I use a vinegar soak and a gentle scouring sponge. Less strain on my hands and wrists, and I use the vinegar to clean/soak other things.
I just fill my cup with vinegar, chuck in small things that need a soak (like sink screen inserts) and leave it for a few hours.
