This plot has always been iffy to me. I am totally fine with the crystal gems not freeing lapis. They don't know her alignment and if she is a homeworld sympathizer, but why not bubble her? Why keep her trapped in an object for thousands of years? I doubt that Rose didn't know that lapis is a conscious being, and I doubt that she gave any useful information, so why do that? And they never apologized, we have no idea why they did what they did...
