Your pain might not be coming from your body. It might be coming from your brain. One of the most important pain studies ever didn’t focus on injury. It focused on the brain. Researchers followed people right after a back injury and tracked what happened next. People who healed normally showed pain activity in sensory areas of the brain. Like a check engine light. It turned on. Did its job. Turned off. But people who developed chronic pain showed something different. Two regions started overcommunicating. The medial prefrontal cortex which handles meaning memory and emotion. And the nucleus accumbens which processes threat and reward. That loop never shut down. That brain pattern alone predicted chronic pain a year later with 85 percent accuracy. Even when the body had already healed. So if your scans are clear but you still hurt You are not broken Your brain just learned pain too well The good news What the brain learns it can unlearn That is exactly what we focus on inside the Movement Program Teaching the nervous system that it is safe to move again Watch the Pain Academy Podcast Episode 3 now live on YouTube Also available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify Download the Pain Academy app now for free.
