@rescue.ranch0: 🚨We have an update to share with everybody on Richie. Richie came to us as a victim of severe, intentional abuse. The injuries to his penis were so extensive and devastating that the veterinary team had no choice but to perform a penile amputation in order to save his life. This was not an accident and there is a suspect, with animal control actively working the case. Today, we saw two very important moments. Richie finally ate for us, something we have been hoping and praying for. Even more encouraging, he was able to urinate on his own through the new urinary opening created during surgery, which means that part of the procedure is functioning as it should. That said, Richie is still critical. He has lost a significant amount of blood, and continued bleeding is unfortunately expected with a surgery this extensive. The doctors are monitoring him closely and believe he will likely need a blood transfusion. His bloodwork will be repeated shortly, and if his levels drop further, they will move forward with transfusion immediately. Richie has already endured unimaginable cruelty, but he is still fighting. Please keep him in your thoughts as we take these next critical steps, and thank you for standing with him while justice is pursued.
