What about Hydroxyzine? My psychiatrist prescribes it for me as needed for panic attacks and sleep trouble (tho I don’t take it often bc it really knocks me out). Does it have the same thing in it? Bc he said it’s also an antihistamine.

I had to take a sleeping pill for a sleep study and I didn’t feel awake for nearly three days. I will never take a sleeping pill again. It was awful

I do wonder what is more harmful: only sleeping 3 to 5 hours per night or taking the medication that you’re talking about. I know neither are good for you, but it is something I think about.

benadryl was the only thing the ob said i could use to help me sleep during pregnancy. I took it 2x and stopped because I had trippier nightmares than I get from melatonin ... without pregnancy hormones 👀

As someone who has to take IV Benadryl multiple times daily for more than a few years to keep from dry heaving until I burst veins in my eyeballs, I don’t have a choice, BUT I have such screwed up anatomy and genetics from EDS plus Agent Orange driven birth defects and just crazy medical issues that puzzle all the drs-plus even as a child, sedatives have the opposite effects, I never get sleepy, my parents said before surgeries they would try to give me meds to make me sleep the night before, and I’d be crazy crawling all over the caged in crib overnight that they stopped that pretty quick-lol my kids are now 31 and 28, multiple surgeries and illnesses and crazy similar issues and it’s the same, they always send in the student drs and nurses to see the weird crazy things they have never seen before lol the nurses at my vascular surgeons office that need to try to sedate me for my central lines often, marvel that I’m still talking to them when I’ve had enough meds to sedate a moose-ketamine was the absolute worst med reaction ever, I was climbing the shelves in my room lol
