We had an overwhelmed friend like this. Walked in the house, wife took the baby, I brought in cleaning supplies and groceries. By the time we left mom had a shower, clean clothes, a clean house, food prep for a week, and 10 hour nap.

I firmly believe new moms should be issued an old/retired mom that is there for her once a day to give mommies a break so they can get a nap, take a shower, get a decent meal etc. It takes a village to raise a child, you should never feel alone or abandoned under the weight of motherhood.

My mom was that person. My daughter, my first born was 10 months and mom was always there to help in anyway she could. That was 10 years ago, she’s gone now. Thanks Mom🙏🏾🥹

My mother in law walked in day 2 PP and saw me just staring at the wall and my husband doing his best to help and without judgement just loaded us all into her car and let us live with her for the first two weeks. She cooked every meal while giving us our space to learn our baby. I’ll never be able to thank her enough for showing up that day.

My friends with small children would call me first for help with their babies & toddlers. I'd keep them for the weekend when I was off. My house was a playground. No room was off limits. I fed them 4 course meals and snacks. We played hide &seek in the house. We had watergun fights. Grabbed popcorn & drinks to watch movies. Sometimes I think my friends thought that they were asking too much or too often, but if they only knew, I think I had more fun than the kids. I really miss those days.

Insurance should cover an after birth doula. a baby carer that can come at least twice a week just to look after the baby for 8hrs so mom can sleep and take care of herself to avoid nervous breakdowns. or ppst partum depression

After I gave birth, I spend 2 weeks sleeping. My mum was just bringing me my daughter to breastfeed her. She was cooking, washing and doing everything. I awake only to eat and have my shower then go back to bed.

My sister had her first baby on Tuesday. I'm flying down tomorrow to stay with her, my brother-in-law, and my new sweet nephew for 2 weeks! I can't wait to be this person for her!
