Raw counts are not better than per capita rates, and percapita rates are not better than raw counts. Both are accurate measurements that answer different questions and can give us different results. Raw counts tell us how many incidents there are in total while per capia rates tell us how frequently those incidents occur compared to the size of the population. So why should we cherry pick one over the other just to make one race look worse? Raw counts can be used to make harmful claims about Black people, while per-capita rates can be used to make harmful claims about white people. Both sides can use statistics to push a racial narrative, but neither wants to acknowledge that. If two accurate ways of measuring violence can point to different groups, then the better conclusion is that violence isn’t tied to one race. Instead of choosing whichever statistic proves race correlated to violence we should look at the actual factors behind the differences

Policy makers would do well to understand this. It’s why I’ve never thought more population is necessarily a good thing unless it raises per capita income.

Per capita is HUGELY RELIABLE, like it is ABSOLUTELY reliable. However racial arguments against minority populations that were placed in impoverished areas (impoverished areas with lack of opportunity and resources has been studied and proven to be more rampant in crime) will be more policed, profiled, and arrested. Now with that information let’s move on into per capita. Per capita (assuming you are trying to use per capita with its criminal data) measures both arrests and reports of crime. And like I said it is correct in these reports however you’re missing a key detail you refuse to answer, since per capita measures it’s criminal data with arrests and crime reports instead of raw conviction you will get an unbalanced argument when claiming a view in a racist debate which would automatically make the racist perspective flawed. Following that, on a yearly basis 400,000 black people (African-Americans) are arrested for violent crime (if the average was true, ignoring releases and exonerations that was be .9% of the total black population per year) but we aren’t ignoring releases and exonerations. But what is an exoneration? Exoneration is being released after conviction, and the black community holds the record for over half (53%) of all exonerations since 1989 and account for 55%-60% of the annual exonerations. Now let’s get back to the numbers, yearly average of 400,000 adding it the multiple other data points (exoneration rates and likelyhood of innocence) nearly 32% - 55% of ALL violent crime is released without conviction (in shorter terms legally cleared without any sentencing.) so the numbers don’t support racist arguments at all. (In replies I’ll show my evidence to support this)
