FTD affects the frontal lobe. It is often dismissed as a psychiatric illness when it is a shrinking frontalobe. In its early stages, early on It causes you to lose your sense of smell, judgement, empathy & impulse control. It Most commonly begins between 45 and 65 years old. (My dad lost his sense of smell smell 5 years ago at 65). He is turning 69 on July 28th. We’re in middle stage now & his short term memory is declining. We have good days and bad days. Thankfully he doesn’t remember those. Unfortunately, I do. I have him on a strict schedule of supplements and medications. I’m hoping relief in caregiving will come soon but as you may know, Americas healthcare system is deplorable.🤬 I cannot leave him home alone any more. I want to desperately have one more once in a life time experience with him and my children. 3 unpaid roles. 1 person. The light I try to see in being his caregiver is more time. But I’d be lying if I said it was easy. 😣 So with bringing awareness to this illness with an ending. I ask that you do two things: 1. if your parents personality changes (poor financial decision, watching tv all day, random bouts of confusion) get them into a Neurologist immediately. 2. Tag @ParisHilton and @hilton to help me make this dream come true. ❤️ And if you have any experience with caring for someone with FTD please, leave a comment. Drop advice.
