All my life, I've heard stories about 'similar nations'. I saw older generation claim foreign stars from 'that side' as their own, and watched people celebrate finding 'fellow slavs' in global online chats. I was born in an Independent Ukraine, yet i grew up in a society heavily cloaked in russification and a deep-seated inferiority complex. People romanticized that 'other' country for its vastness and its 'multicultural' facade—but looking back, that culture wasn't all-ecompassing, it was built on subjugation. Personally, I never felt the urge to visit. I never felt a connection, and their music never clicked. My tastes have always been specific— I'm that kind of person who sings Johnson Boris and Pes Patron (Patron the Dog) in the shower (yes, we have songs about them, and yes they're fire). Was I an outlier? To some, maybe. Back then, it wasn't necessarily about hate, I was just indifferent. They simply weren't 'mine'. You tell yourself 'that's just how it was' but in the courtroom of my own patriotic subconscious, that isn't an excuse. For my country, that passive acceptance was a verdict that lasted for decades. Today, I'm sharing our history and I'm sincerely grateful that it resonates with all of you. It's ironic that a history guide is getting more love than my creative work, but telling people the truth is the least i can do. Especially now, in the 12th year of this relentless war. It's time the world knows the real story. #ukraine #standwithukraine #supportukraine #slavaukraine #howto
