Avoid disagreement. Suppress honesty to maintain acceptance. But psychologically, excessive approval-seeking signals insecurity, not warmth. People trust individuals more when they sense internal stability. A person who can tolerate disapproval appears stronger, calmer, and more grounded. Another habit is over-explaining yourself just to be understood. Constant explanation usually comes from fear of being misjudged. So the mind keeps trying to manage perception. Clarify motives. Defend intentions. Control how others interpret you. But the more desperate someone becomes to control perception, the less authoritative they appear.
