i don’t even let my own dogs around my kids unsupervised. after working in the vet field it doesn’t matter the breed. I’ve seen extremely aggressive golden retrievers and the sweetest rottweilers.

Living with dogs was an adjustment. By the second baby they knew the drill. One refused to acknowledge the baby, the other kept trying to give him the ball 🤣

Yeah they forget dogs take time to adjust. I'm pregnant and have been working with my dogs to ignore the baby stuff. People thought I was crazy I had the baby stuff set up early but it made it so the dogs knew to ignore it. Bassinet has been set up in the room at 30 weeks, and my dogs didn't even bother to go near it, just looked for places on the floor they could lie down

When we had our now 3 year old I was so worried about my own dogs! They are trained and had been near little ones but not newborns. I was happily surprised when they behaved so well and now the toddler and dogs are besties. I don’t trust anyone else’s dogs though

My seven month old has been to my in laws once because of this very reason. BTW I'm a veterinary practice manager, vet tech, and dog trainer. 🤣

Man I have a dog and child and he is amazing with her. However if I was asking to watch someone’s kid and they were worried not a problem. Also like heck my dog isn’t being corrected with jumping up. We correct our dog. But some people that have kids and dogs don’t correct theirs. Specially the smaller ones.

Dog owners like that are why I dislike dogs now. So many untrained dogs being a complete nuisance has changed my views on them.

I was out for a walk the other night, and a stranger's dog charged us from its backyard all the way across the street, snarling and barking. I was yelling for help, and the owner walked out so slowly saying that the dog was friendly. like... maybe to you??

I love my dog but I wouldn’t trust him around a little kid especially toddler sized! And I sure wouldn’t let let my kids around my mom’s dog! That dog is evil I swear it. It bites her and she is the owner. My kids are grown now and they still don’t like that dog. It’s nothing like the dogs we had growing up!

My mom pays more attention to her dog than my daughter when she goes to cross the road or put them in the car and it's insane. Also anything with a mouth can bite

I had a super hyperactive pitbull mix and had to rehome him when I was 7 months pregnant because he kept jumping all over me no matter how hard we tried to train him to stop, and he would jump on people when they got in the house. I do know that it was unfortunate and I do not plan on getting another dog until I can afford to train it and my baby is much older
