When I used to film weddings, when people would do this I would tell them “the couple paid me a lot to do this and I’m sure they will be unhappy with you if I don’t get the shot because you are in the way”

For our wedding we had an announcement ahead of time that anyone caught using their phone to take pictures or videos during the ceremony would be immediately and loudly called out by the bride or groom because we didn’t spend a ton of money on a photographer to have your cell phone in our pictures
