@yehnoor: A lot of people might come at me for this but guys Dananeer has become so performative.What she’s doing is presentism judging something by today’s standards when Devdas was literally first published in 1917,109 years ago by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.The entire story is based on how status matters more than anything the entire argument that Paro has no self respect is weak.She rejected Devdas multiple times.Devdas was an alcoholic,but he was an alcoholic because he couldn’t choose between Chandramukhi and Paro he ended up choosing alcohol and ruining himself,he was toxic.The entire point of the story is to show society’s standards and the truth about how status is everything.Paro and Dev both have huge egos and Chandramukhi ends up in the middle of it all.It’s a classic piece for a reason.Something written in 1917 isn’t going to be feminist we have to accept that this story is fully based on society it doesn’t address feminism,as a feminist myself.The story isn’t exactly promoting falling in love.It isn’t a love story it’s a tragedy.It shows how two people from completely different backgrounds can never be together.It shows that social pressure,pride and poor choices destroy love. #fyp #devdas #bollywoodedit #pakistan #india
