Tbh I’d rather have a Silver that can show many emotions rather than him only being “edgy” or “cinnamon roll”. The issue is that in early IDW, his characterization wasn’t the best because it went beyond him just being nice, he wasn’t really allowed to do things on his own without needing help from either Blaze or Whisper, or Espio even. Not that getting help from friends is wrong however I feel like it wasn’t truly til IDW 76, that Silver was shown a bit more independent especially in regards to his Garden that got ruined which I was glad that the dude didn’t wine about it and looked at this as just a minor setback that can now become an advantage. THIS- is the perfect example of how Silver is and should be. Rather than him always needing Blaze as an “older sibling”, it should be a situation where he can do for his self but Blaze encourages him to continue doing so ✅. Silver can do great things, especially with his powers and given he has a future that isn’t explored really- he might be one of the highest potential characters in the franchise and he can grow even more if Sega just writes him the way he should be ✅.
