I told myself the exact same thing with my Sam. I lost my sweet Sam boy last month. My advice is always keep in mind that your time with them is short and special. Even if you’re tired or don’t feel like it….take them out to play, throw that ball one more time, give them your last bite of food, let them sleep in your bed even if they shed a lot. This is how I lived by Sam and because of it after his passing I have zero regrets and I don’t sit around and say things like “oh wish I had did this with him when I could have”. Dogs are special especially Labradors, giving them all you got while you can is the best gift you can give not just to them but to yourself!
