You should have done the clover grass I think it grows fast and is hardy.

Put down starter fertilizer with it along with getting a timer for watering and water it 3 times a day. First thing in the morning before sun comes up. 11-12 and then again around 5. Do that for 2-3 weeks. And then slowly back off the watering and then put down more fertilizer like 6-8 weeks later.
