i think youre missing a huge page of why they chose to start fresh. the current world had god and satan, heaven and hell. when crowley asked god why she would make humans then punish them for being humans, that was a huuuge reason why they chose to start over. they knew that no matter how hard they tried with love and compassion the current world would never go well because of god/satans influence on it! its not that they wanted to start fresh, its that they didnt want god's influence on the world, they wanted humans to just be left alone and figure things out for themselves. crowley and aziraphales story was about how much they love humanity, they wanted them to have a fighting chance at being themselves without being punished by god

and the basis of the entire good omens universe, the joke that we are all supposed to be in on together, (especially in the book/season 1) was that heaven and hell were actually pretty incompetent and didn't have as much control over humanity as they thought they did. that humans are the true force of creativity and love and destruction in the world

I agree with everything and I want to point out another thing that pissed me off this season which was the characterization of Crowley and Aziraphale and their dynamic, which was extremely off and awkward. Aziraphale especially went from being recognised as a leader and an amazing, capable character to this useless guy following Crowley around as he comes up with all the answers, he's the only one of the two who doesn't get an arc, and he "gets forgiveness" by Crowley FOR THE WRONG THING: not because he forgot about him for 3 years (absurd btw) or because he STILL has this idea that heaven should be good and hell is inherently bad, but because he made the selfless decision of trying to save humanity over his desire to be with Crowley??

i think yall need to remember this was supposed to be 6 episodes. they would've had way more actual development towards the ending. and them not wanting god/heaven/hell to have influence on humans anymore is in character imo

no literally cause across all the seasons INCLUDING 90% of season 3 they have been trying to save the world and avoid apocalypse and we are meant to accept that they just randomly gave up? what was the point of any of it? also the whole jesus arc was cool and probably would’ve been better in a full season but in the context of the ending it was 100% useless. honestly the end is so uncharacteristic and lazy why do they just not care about anything on earth? and if god created a universe without an ineffable plan how did she plan to have the human au happy ending with all the human au characters? there so many issues i can’t

The universe they lived in was already gone. It was lost. The book of life was destroyed. They had no other choice but start anew. This time though, there would be no meddling, only humanity. They loved humanity so much that they asked to make it again, exactly as it was (no taking away mistakes or "defects") but with true freedom.

The problem wasn’t humans it was God and Satan. The way they influenced the world took away free will and for humans to exist outside of gods plan. Crowley had always hated that because it caused a lot of problems and Aziraphale had his own little arc of coming to understand that point of view. So when given the chance they wanted to be able to get rid of the ineffable plan so that humans can truly have free will and not be unfairly punished. I think this is also what God wanted considering she agreed to the idea so quickly.

Aziraphale and Crowley didn't choose for their world to end; God (who has been set on Armageddon the entire time) put that into motion and they had to work with what they could. Them asking for a universe without Heaven or Hell is them choosing humanity one last time.

YEAH LOUDER! ESP ABT LAST SLIDE! Cause for me the message of the Finale also was smth abt "give up and start a new life somewhere else" and this is not what THIS show should have been broadcast.. Every time I think I've come to terms with the ending, I remember that f#cked up message For me and most likely many others, the show was also about how you can love whoever you want and how you want regardless of the circumstances, and Finale lost that thought ig💀

THIS!!! Have you seen Cliopadraart's fix it comic? Aziraphale used the "book of life" to make God and Devil docile creatures (they can't get involved anymore) and attempts to ✍🏻 history and humanity based on memory. They still have the whimsy parts. That's my canon.

that's what I'm saying, people are saying "oh it's better the new human universe because they couldn't have been together as demon-angel and also because of their trauma" THAT'S EXACTLY WHY A UNIVERSE WITH THE REAL THEM WOULD'VE BEEN BETTER, give the message that you don't have to just give up on everything because of trauma, work on yourself and MAKE IT WORK, I wish writers would try more often not to just kill off "difficult" characters

The other thing that was weird with the writing is that it seemed like they kept completely switching Crowley and Aziraphale's stances on what was going on throughout the movie. Like without showing them actually changing their opinion, they would just swap what they wanted for a couple of lines, and then swap back again. did anyone else notice that??

Core Crowley wanted a non rigged universe that could just be, even if he made the best of what he had in this one. That's why they choose to start everything from scratch. The first apocalypse would still have happened in the same rigged system. All the biblical facts don't happen in this godless universe, there's literally no creation besides the big bang and "let it play out". In a real universe where nobody is playing a game of skill and chance. Where no matter what you do the plan will always kick you in the butt basically.

Fr like during the previous two seasons, they maintained the idea that Crowley and Aziraphale did not fit anywhere so they ended up creating their own side, and at the final they simply abandoned that and decided to erase everything

I have so many issues with the finale,so i honestly don't understand how anyone could like it. First of all, they focused so much on the character of Jesus in the Season 2 finale just to turn him into a throwaway character and kill him off almost immediately. Second, many people thought Adam would play an important role as an incredibly powerful character, but he was shown for just a second in the new “better” world Third, Beelzebub and Gabriel were important characters in the first two seasons, but in the third, they aren’t even mentioned. Fourth, what you already mentioned in the video. Fifth, neither Crowley nor Aziraphale feel the same as they did in the first and second seasons. I’m sorry, but at the end of the second season and the beginning of the third, it looks like Aziraphale couldn’t care less about Crowley and only came to ask for help even one of the characters points it out,and the fact that he didn’t even check on Crowley once is strange😬 Sixth, God is interesting, but this concept of an evil God is getting a bit tiresome, and the devil character is completely uninteresting

It’s so true the ending just feels like a lazy “and it was all a dream!” Alternative and anyone saying how it’s THEM (Asa and Anthony) is just a contradiction of the whole “no god no demons and angels” universe that they asked for. And finally why couldn’t they show runners just allow them to be a couple as THEMSELVES it makes the first two series feel really obsolete
