I’m on the fence about having one even though my husband and I both want a child. We both have higher education degrees and work multiple jobs (a total of 5 jobs between two of us (1 FT each, 1 PT each, and do dog boarding together for additional income)). We just purchased our first home in MA WITH my mom (who also works a FT job and we’re building her a small in-law unit out of the attached garage) because we couldn’t afford to buy in our location in MA. We’re afraid the financial stress and time it takes to manage the home and child while both working full time (because we HAVE to) will ruin our marriage. What kind of life will that set us up for and our child? I don’t want to work just so my salary can go to daycare so my child can be raised by strangers but we can’t afford not to work and stay home. At that point, why are we choosing a family when we don’t have time to be a family…

Actually that’s probably the BEST reason other than serious psychological disorders. Top priority is to protect your child and give him hem the best life you possibly can and that requires good financial decisions! We wanted more and realized that it would seriously negatively impact the opportunities we could provide the children that were already alive and thriving.

The finance lady is giving “under-babied” and Gilead vibes. The fact that this kind of rhetoric not only exists but is ACCEPTABLE is appalling!! People have no concept of empathy. I’m so sorry, Casey. The absolute audacity. It never ceases to amaze me how people think they have a right to influence what people do or don’t do to grow their families. You’re making a selfless decision that is best for your family, and that’s admirable. And YES - people, stop 👏 asking 👏 when/if 👏 someone is going 👏 to have 👏 children/more children!
