I went to an NDT talk in the auditorium 7 ish years ago. at the end he called Bill Nye. It was coolest show I've ever been to. it was parked by a local MC. That auditorium sparked early Anchorage radio, btw.

WAHS also once had one of the top JROTC Drill teams in the nation. I joined just after they'd won the national championship, iirc. It was intense, but one of the best experiences of my young life. I only attended West for JROTC and took classes elsewhere, but it's a big part of my upbringing and fond memories.

Carlos Montoya played there as well. After the 64 quake, east of the home ec rm. , the 2nd floor was destroyed, so was removed. A person can still ladder up through a 1st floor hallway ceiling hatch, and get up onto the original 2nd floor, crawl east along original travertine floor like the rest of school. 👍🎼
