I once crucified the party's favourite NPC, leaving them on display at the gates of the city they went to to fight a villain. Before I go further, this was the first campaign they all had ever played and I wanted to instill better cooperation in them. They cooperated after that all right, to the point that the city was entirely blown up in a day.

i would let them die and let the fey push they're soul back into the corpse (make them undead if it fits) and the fey would say something ominous like "now, your payment will increase" or something like that

...see our DM gave us a deck of Many things. ... unfortunately for him we all keep rolling *insanely* well. we've got 4 wishes in the party pocket, I pulled Throne Twice - my PC is already rich she doesn't need to be richer! - I've pulled Knight and Sun too- WE DONT NEED ALL THIS LUCK, OUR DM thinks it's hilarious because at this point we're screaming for consequences and only keep getting the good things.

we tease our DM and such and our Bard has said "if you want my character to die you gotta do it in one shot" cause he has notoriously not died despite everything but we also fear the knowledge he has, our DM is a IRL Lore Bard

to add an idea, finish a session with them dead. tell them to make a new character. then at the top of next session, the fae henchmen show up and greater revivify (idk how that would work exactly in an actual game.)
