10 foods I keep in my kitchen 4 years post-op that have helped me maintain my weight 👇 1. Greek yogurt High protein, easy breakfast, and I can change the flavor without turning breakfast into dessert cosplay. 2. Shrimp One of my favorites. Lean protein, cooks stupid fast, and actually feels like a meal. 3. Ground turkey Taco bowls. Meatballs. Burgers. Egg scrambles. I need food that can have multiple personalities. 4. Eggs Cheap. Simple. Protein. And when I have absolutely no desire to cook, eggs have saved me from making dinner out of random pantry bullshit. 5. Chicken thighs or breast Not exciting. That’s fine. My food doesn’t need to perform Cirque du Soleil every night. 6. Cottage cheese Another easy whole-food protein I can eat alone, add to eggs, blend into something, or use as a base. 7. Frozen vegetables Because “I didn’t have fresh vegetables” is no longer an excuse when broccoli can live in my freezer for six months waiting patiently for me to get my shit together. 8. Berries Sweet, easy, fiber, and perfect with Greek yogurt when I want something that actually resembles food. 9. Beans Protein AND fiber. I’ll throw them into bowls, soups, chili, taco meat. They add staying power without requiring another protein product. 10. Actual seasonings and sauces Because eating mostly whole foods doesn’t mean your chicken has to taste like drywall. Notice what’s NOT dominating this list. Protein chips. Protein cookies. Protein brownies. Protein cereal. Seventeen shakes pretending to be meals. I use convenience foods when they’re convenient. I just don’t want them becoming the foundation of my diet. Four years out, boring basics still do a hell of a lot of heavy lifting. If you need more ideas for getting your protein in without living inside a GNC, drop PROTEIN below and I’ll send you our protein guide.
