🤬🤬🤬 This is sooooo outrageous. These children are just as important as others. I was similarly treated the same way as a child being in special needs classes. I have friends with autistic kids and they are the sweetest little ones.

I have cerebral palsy caused by birth and I was the only handicap student in many of my classes from kindergarten forward and never was I excluded. You think we would’ve come further not gone backwards in the last 30+ years

Ok as a prek teacher with several behavioral issues/delays. We have “helpers” for those children. They either sit next to or close to the child during ceremony. And walks w/ in to ceremony. Depending their emotional state day of ceremony depends on whether we stay in alphabetical order or have them at end of the line. This is not as punishment it is to help them be able to regulate themselves (w/help) while still including them in the line but not taking away from the other children. it’s teaching my prek class that yes everyone is different but we don’t leave anyone out. We just may have to make arrangements for some. This hurts my heart!!!!!

I have cerebral palsy. Fortunately, I never had to worry about things like this in particular. I was bullied heavily however. What an awful feeling to not be included!

Oh absolutely NOT. This is horrible! As a former K teacher, seeing my highest needs student walk across that stage made me ugly cry. It was a moment I’ll never forget. I felt like a proud mom. He’s graduating elementary school now and off to middle school and I’m going to try and attend!🤍 this story is heartbreaking.
