@fjoz: Maida Nuzhat, whose original name was Maida Jassim Muhammad Al-Azzawi, was born in the Al-Karkh district of Baghdad in 1937. She grew up and was educated in its schools. After completing the memorization of the Quran, she moved to primary school, where her singing talents emerged from childhood when she used to memorize and repeat the songs of Umm Kulthum, Farid Al-Atrash, Asmahan, and Laila Murad.She applied for a radio audition in Baghdad in 1950 and passed, later becoming one of the most famous singers on Iraqi radio. During that period, she recorded a number of Iraqi songs composed by Ahmed Al-Khalil and Nazim Naeem, such as the songs "Tawbah" and "Kalu Helou." Then, many songs were composed for her by Alaa Kamel, Ahmed Al-Khalil, Reda Ali, Abbas Jamil, Samir Baghdadi, and Alaa Kamel, which gave a good impression on listeners. When Baghdad Television Station began broadcasting as the first television broadcast in the Arab world, Maida Nuzhat was one of the first singers to appear on television in 1956.She sang for a long time, traveled, and became famous; the public knew her for her sweet voice and distinctive choices, such as the song (For Nasiriyah and repentance, I say ah and repentance, they said it is sweet, everyone loves it).News sites circulated a rumor about her death, but she denied it, stating that she was still alive and currently living in America, where her son manages her affairs. She had moved to America in 2014 from Cairo. The Ministry of Culture posted a large black banner on the exterior wall of its headquarters on Haifa Street in central Baghdad, which read, "The Ministry of Culture mourns the great Iraqi artist, Maida Nuzhat."
