Im a criminology student graduating in June in London and almost all of us in the class have already got jobs in the ministry og justice, prisons etc even before our final grades are out. I’ve got a job already in a private crime forensic organisation with a starting salary of £37k and im only turning 21 next month

Criminology is good for those who want to work in criminal justice - probation, prisons, courts, police, not the best paying jobs but good opportunities for anyone who has passion for public protection and working with offenders

Social workers are needed more than ever, it's a very valuable degree. The problem is that there isn't funding to employ them. Huge problem.

As a lecturer in sociology, this is a completely wrong analysis. Universities are not and shouldn't be job agencies. Knowledge matters. Relationships you build at uni matter. Life experience matters. Because of these kinds of analyses the country is going down the drain atm.

I graduated in Biomedical Science and went straight into the pharmaceutical sales industry. I then moved into medical device sales and then into medical affairs and medical education. I’ve been in this industry for 20 years and I’m now a global director of medical strategy. You could move into other industries when you have a science degree.

As a Business and Management lecturer, I completely disagree. Business degrees consistently lead to strong graduate outcomes. The skills developed such as leadership, communication, finance, strategy and problem solving are transferable across every industry because, ultimately, everything runs through a business in some form. Business remains one of the largest graduate employment sectors, because every industry needs people who understand how organisations operate and grow.

I got a first in Biomedical Science and then transitioned into a tech graduate scheme. The thing with Biomed is that it’s a highly respected degree with a lot of transferable skills. Speaking to a lot of people after graduation, most weren’t actually planning to stay in biomedical science, many were aiming for Medicine, Physician Associate roles, or transitioning into completely different industries altogether. That’s probably why it appears on lists like this. A large proportion of graduates don’t actually go on to work in labs; they move into broader fields where the analytical, scientific, and problem-solving skills from the degree still hold value.

I do filmmaking which is slightly different to film studies and they’re actually really good at giving us opportunities, me and a lot of people in my course have worked on big productions
