I've been waiting 10 years to ask someone these questions, and today I finally get to do that. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by American politics. Back then, I used to watch the elections, every interview and all the debates from my bedroom, trying to figure out why a system thousands of miles away felt so consequential to my life. So when I was given the chance to have a sit-down conversation with Vice President Of The United States JD Vance, I knew I didn’t just want to ask him about headlines. I wanted to understand the person behind the headlines. At the start of the conversation, I said to him: “To understand the people that are sitting in front of me, you have to get a picture of their early context.” And the reality is, I didn't truly know his context… What I really wanted to find out by speaking with VP is: How much of what people think they know about VP Vance is ACTUALLY true? Long before he entered the White House, VP grew up in a home shaped by addiction, poverty, instability, and a revolving door of father figures. I went into this conversation wanting to understand how a kid raised in addiction and instability became the Vice President of the United States. And then get to the bottom of what he really thinks about everything happening in the world right now with no questions left unsaid. We spoke about: - The childhood instability that shaped the way he sees people. - The conversation that changed his view of Donald Trump. - His return to Christianity after years as an atheist. - Whether he wants to be President one day. - The immigration debate that is dividing America. - Why doesn't he trust the UK Government? - Whether he thinks aliens exist… - When will a proposed ceasefire deal with Iran happen? - Navigating one of the most demanding jobs on earth while raising a young family. One of the things that I've come to learn is just try and meet everybody as I experience them. Regardless of where you stand politically, this conversation goes deeper than politics. And as a podcaster, having these conversations is important, as it goes beyond the headlines and shows you how the people in power actually think.
