@its.jessieleigh: Kids are being failed by the school system. 820 strangers commented on my last video and 99% of them, the same story. Same fight. Same exhaustion. This isn’t just one families story! #adhd #adhdparent #neurodivergent
it's not the fault of teachers and schools, you should vent your rant at the government, who have increased class sizes whilst cutting sen support, ta support , and whole school senco support.
the system is failing the kids but it's from lack of funding. not teaching or schools.

Have you ever worked in a school? Teachers are not treated kindly by management, let me assure you. We actually are criticised for having an opinion, pulled up for ‘interrupting’, etc. Some teachers are also neurodivergent but that isn’t taken into consideration. My SLT show no grace or respect to the staff in my school. I’ve been questioned in an unsupportive way when dealing with personal issues and zero empathy shown. They don’t check in with us or the pupils. However, I do. I put my pupils first and care about them deeply. I’ve missed events for my daughter due to my school commitments. Please don’t vilify teachers. Our job is much harder than you can possibly imagine.

if behaviour policies are designed to help children manage classes of 30+ children, do we possibly need smaller classes rather than punitive policies?

I really do think these kind of battles with schools will ruin our children's self esteem and confidence. My daughter has ADHD and gets told by teachers to focus. She comes home crying somedays. She'll say, how can I focus when I find it so hard? I worry about her starting secondary next year x

Genuinely shout out to my sons school who has recognised all of this and is now putting in steps to not use detentions but to make a note of the behaviours and try to target the root cause by investigating possible struggles. I wish all of the schools could be as good as they are at actually understanding this isn’t laziness- forgetfulness and excitement are ADHD symptoms and there are many other neuro symptoms that contribute to these things! ❤️

I am currently going through this 😔 my daughter was fully understood in primary school, secondary is so different. Detentions and isolation does not help a neurodiverse child, they need support not punishment xx

Im and SLT i work with ASD children, I find its better for myself and the child, if they become disregulated to work more towards finding the causes instead of focusing on the outcome, just find it gets better results, we use floor time, just laying on the floor, also builds trust 💜

There are many great teachers I agree with the previous comment talk to the government who have cut things everywhere and access to provisions are limited . We want more for pupils also x

I’m sorry Miss Jackson :
Your so right. I’m crying watching this. We’re waiting to hear if the local authority will send my daughter to a specialist school. I know there going to try and send her to mainstream. Even though her SENCO, school teachers, educational psychologist and me have said that they would be setting her up to fail. ❤️

I couldn’t have worded this any better! I’m going though it with my son 😩 constant suspensions. He’s been off school today suspended simply because he was being rude and difficult on Monday 😩 refusing to go to lessons when he was told to be in internal 😡

My daughter is struggling with secondary school. Senco is now supporting her after I completely broke down because it’s puts you under so much stress and we are adults. How do you think the kids feel. I dread the phone ringing. The reasons for half of these detention are completely ridiculous in my opinion. ❤️
