@drgolly: When is it safe to take your newborn outside? 🌿👶 This gets asked all the time; and many parents feel like they need to stay indoors for weeks… which just isn’t necessary 💛 The truth? You can take your newborn outside from day one. It’s not about if; it’s about how 👇 ✔️ Dress for the weather (newborns can’t regulate temperature well) ✔️ Be mindful of sun exposure; shade and covers are your friend ☀️ ✔️ Choose your environment; avoid crowded, high-risk spaces early on Fresh air, a short walk, a change of scenery; it’s good for baby and for you 🤍 No need to feel stuck inside. Just take a few simple precautions and get out when you feel ready ✨ Save this for those early newborn days; and send it to a new parent who might need the reassurance 💛
Well u gotta leave the hospital, yeah? That’s outside 😂

My baby is 3 weeks old and we spend SO much time outside. The fresh air has her napping so good and it’s so good for my mental health.

If baby is born during winter months where more viral infections are going around, it makes you more anxious.

In Tanzania it’s after 40 days. A ceremony called “arobaini” which literally translates to forty is done and the baby is now allowed to go outside. Though the baby can go outside ONLY if it’s to the hospital.

I took my baby out for a walk 3 days postpartum and not only did it not hurt him it made me feel SO much better. We're still cautious about bringing him around people though

Outdoors, I would say immediately after they’re born! Sunrise and sunset sunshine has the most healing rays for them, and mama! To stores and restaurants, I personally wait the first 8 weeks ✨
