Japanese Cream Stew ✨🍲 We’ve been wanting to try pottery, so after finally getting around to it, it felt like a small win. And this is the dish we wanted to celebrate with. Creamy Japanese chicken stew — hearty, loaded with vegetables, and inspired by those anime stews that always look way too good. And to make the win feel even more special, we paired it with an ice-cold Coke Zero. They just go together so well. Every bite, mixed with every sip and sure na mapapa-Coke ka sa sarap. These measurements are estimates, so measure with your ❤️ INGREDIENTS: Chicken - 500g of Chicken Thighs - Salt and pepper to taste Bechamel - 1/2 cup butter - 3/4 cup flour - Milk as needed - pinch of nutmeg - 1 tbsp of dashi powder Cream stew - 1 large white onion, sliced - 10 cloves of garlic, sliced - 1 pack (250g) button mushroom, sliced - 1 pack (250g) shimeji mushrooms - 1 large carrot, sliced - 10 pcs of marble potatoes, sliced - Chicken stock as needed - 2-3 bay leaves - Salt and pepper to taste
Others: - Furikake - Rice - Boiled carrots - Blanched broccoli INSTRUCTIONS: - Season thighs with salt and pepper, sear both sides, cut into bite-sized pieces. - In the same pot, sauté the onions and garlic. Add the mushrooms and let them cook dow. - Add the potatoes and carrots, return the chicken to the pot, add chicken stock, bay leaves, then simmer 15-20 mins - For the bechamel, melt the butter, then add the flour and whisk until it turns into a blonde ish roux. Whisk milk in continuously, making sure there are no lumps. Add the dashi powder and a little nutmeg. - Pour the bechamel into the stew and mix. Add the blanched broccoli and top with extra carrots and mushrooms. - Serve with hot rice, furikake, and pair with an ice-cold Coke Zero. Enjoy! #MapapaCokeKaSaSarap #CocaColaPH
