I'll be the boring person and say that they couldve never kept 6000 years of memories and joys and woes and longing and keep the way things were. from the start of the series, aziracrow have been profoundly human, from their flaws to their desires. the "new ones" are exactly what they wanted, to live a human life side by side. flawed, yes, but fulfilled by the sheer presence of eachother without hiding and lying and pretending they're not an us.
