Listen, all of these are my favorite thing to do. HOWEVER: I ask if a 31 hits so that nobody tries to waste a roll-changing mechanic. I’m trying to save you from using shield on an attack that will blow through it anyway.

tbh sometimes I roll a random die for NO REASON other than to fuck with the party; and I also say things like "as you approach the end of the corridor you notice that the door is completely ordinary and definitely not trapped".
