@bringing_history_to_life: One of the earliest surviving images of the Apostle Paul, painted nearly 1,600 years ago beneath the streets of Rome. This late 4th to early 5th century fresco was discovered in the Catacombs of Saint Thecla, where early Christians buried their dead and honored figures central to the faith. The face shown here reflects one of the oldest known traditions of how Paul may have been remembered by believers of the ancient world. I took the original fresco, enhanced the faded details, and created new angles to give a more lifelike glimpse into how this historical figure may have appeared to those living during the final years of the Roman Empire.
