@boutiqueadventurer: Built between 1902 and 1906, the Morgan Library began as the private collection of financier J.P. Morgan, one of America’s most passionate collectors of rare manuscripts, books, and art. When Morgan died in 1913, his son opened the collection to the public in 1924 as a gift and memorial. Today it houses everything from medieval manuscripts to first editions, all housed in this Florentine palazzo that somehow ended up on Madison Avenue.
