@68colliam: Child adoption: There are many reasons why couples adopt other people's children. Common among them are: 1. Infertility - one or both are unable to have their own child themselves. 2. Religious beliefs - some people are convinced that they were meant to serve God by not having their own babies. Unfortunately, when they are old, they start admiring other people's children whom they offer help in order to be helped with say chores as well. 3. Barren / impotent - Some people are are born with no capacity to conceive or make a woman pregnant. A barren woman or an impotent man have generally low self-esteem especially when the community knows their status per se. To hide the shame that comes with it, they may rush to adopt a relative's children. Traditionally, this is encouraged. This is relative adoption. If it involves one spouse at fault, then step parent adoption is very much suitable to leave in peace. 4. Medical procedures such as vasectomy in men and tubal ligation in women - both procedures are used to prevent conception for good as tubes are cut. Years later post procedures, you may be forced to adopt children to hide your shame. These are just few of the reasons for adoption. Whatever the case, children are a gift from God. When He gives them to us, we have the duty to look after them very well. Don't fail in your duties to procreate. It's a God given right to do so. Let the women conceive normally and DON'T abort. Not only is it wrong but also a terrible sin in the eyes of our maker. Watch out. Heterosexual couple is the only union recognized by God and we need to promote it as such.
