Hadn’t ran since I left the army in 2011. Still ran a 14 min 2 mile this past year. My main diet for the past 3 years has been beer 😂

I could absolutely still run a mile, and probably not much slower than I did in my prime. The difference is that now I’d be so sore afterwards I would be confined to bed for two days 😂

To be fair, he might be ‘leaving you in his dust’ speed wise but that doesn’t mean he’ll have the same endurance/can go as long running as you (either way, everyone has a different pace that they’re comfortable with)

Ngl i never ran in my life until covid. In March 2020 I barely made it 1/4 mile, by May I was running 5 miles twice a day. Some people are just lucky and I’m one of em.

Muscle memory is real. I hadn't ran since the army days - well over a decade - but when I started training again, it came back fairly quickly. Biggest obstacle was smoking too much at the time

Last week I had to run maybe 60 feet fast. I can't walk on my knee today. Running sucks.

Can be a genetic difference too. I haven’t consistently ran in like 10 years but last weekend was able to run a sub 25min 5k just off the couch, I have buddies training HARD for it still hitting 30+, just different. I was blessed with naturally high VO2 and slow twitch muscles. dont measure my vert tho lol

I don’t run like I did in the Army but took me 3 weeks of running to get back to a 7:30/mi could push harder for sure if I wanted to prove a point but I’d be gassed for days after

I haven’t ran since highschool. My wife did a mile on the treadmill and said I couldn’t beat her time. I was wearing my steel toe boots from work and beat her time by around 4 mins. A lot of us are on our feet moving a lot daily, specially blue collar, that we kind of just stay in shape in a way.
