I think people missed the point in what’s important in life, is the connection we have with others and how Theo cherished and cared for others so unconditionally

I like your book recommendations for the most part. But if you were fully recommending Theo of Golden, I would’ve had to find another reviewer to trust. I absolutely loved the correspondent, and I found Theo of golden boring and preachy.

Syrupy and trite. Can’t understand the hype.

I’m not religious and I loved it! I did pick up on some religious undertones, but it didn’t feel overly preachy to me. I felt like it was more a message of human connection and kindness.

Just finished the audiobook version. David Morse slayed as narrator. 10 out of five stars. The book is literal gold. As good as A Prayer for Owen Meany.

I thought the dialogue was very poorly written, and for a dialogue heavy book- that’s bad!!

I 1000% agree. I thoroughly enjoyed The Correspondent and I simply wasn’t a fan of Theo of Golden.

I loved this book ❤️All the connections revealed at the end pulled at my heart strings. I didn’t find it preachy like others have mentioned. Served as a reminder that relationships and people are the most important thing

Theo of Golden was also not for me. I understand why some people like it, but to me it was overly sentimental and the characters were depicted as archetypes, not individuals. It seemed to be taking place in 1925 as opposed to 2026. The end of the book struck me as extremely contrived.
