@kamaleffendi: Only able to post this today, after finally finding a little pocket of quiet in the weekend, somewhere between doing laundry, unpacking my suitcase, and trying to free my mind, even briefly, from the weight of work. A day late from the actual celebration, perhaps, but maybe that says enough about what Teacher’s Day feels like when you work in education at the ministry level. The work does not really stop. It follows you home. It lingers in your thoughts. It sits beside your hope. Entering my 12th year in this profession, I realize that loving education also means carrying its worries. Having the privilege to see education from the bird’s-eye view, across policies, classrooms, systems, teachers, students, expectations, and realities, has made me more aware of how fragile and important this work truly is. Some days, if I am being honest, it gives me more anxiety than certainty. But I remain hopeful. Because despite the doubts, despite the exhaustion, despite how challenging the days have become, there is still a part of me that deeply wants the coming generations to inherit something gentler, wiser, and better than what we have today. And maybe that hope, however tired, is still enough reason to continue. Selamat Hari Guru ❤️
