@dr.k.sislow: Your yearly maximum for dental insurance hasn’t increased since the 80s. Adjusted for inflation, it should be about $19k. But it is still between $1k-$2k. Dental insurance insists this is because so few people actually hit their yearly maximum. The reality is that dental insurance makes it practically impossible to use your benefits with a mountain of rules, downgrades, denials, and, of course, co-insurance. In order to use any of that money, you have to pay as well. It’s not that people don’t need more than $1500/year. It’s that they can’t afford to access it. #dentist #insurance #healthcare #privatepractice #dentistry . . Disclaimer: This is for informational and educational purposes. I agree that patients would get treatment without having to pay. Aetna Medicare advantage plan is 100% proof. Patients with Aetna Medicare get treatment. Period.

And I don’t think there’s an out-of-pocket maximum for patients, though there is a lifetime maximum on some services for the insurance!! Even across different insurance agencies!

I still don’t understand why dental isn’t apart of medical insurance. It’s in our body. So why do we need separate insurance for teeth?

and, at least the plans I've had, you have to pay for that insurance for at least 2yrs before they'll even cover the 50%

this is why I stopped getting dental insurance. I have periodontils and deep cleanings are never covered, and no dentist would EVER do a regular cleaning on me from a moral and professional standpoint. it's easier for me to take out loans, and that way I at least get the work done on my terms and what's best for me, not based on what insurance thinks is necessary

I’ve kind of struck dental plan gold with my current employer. $2,000 yearly maximum and 80/20 cost sharing on almost everything except crowns and implants (because of course) but still. There has only been one other plan I’ve seen with a higher yearly maximum which was for $2,500.

The day us actually stops separating dental insurance instead have medical and dental one thing. So many people health would improve dramatically for starters. This “discount programs” just blow my mind.

That’s why Medicare advantage plans used to cover 100% and now it’s 50 because everyone was maxing out their $1000
