Former supervisor here, about a year ago the store manager at my current job pulled all of us into a meeting and told us that we don't need to be really doing work that's what the staff "beneath" us are for and that didn't sit well with me. How I was raised as a leader was that no one wants to work for someone who they don't see doing any work themselves

I'm a store manager & my job is to protect and run the business .. i.e control shrink , increase comp sales , delegate task so that the business is running efficiently , control the turnover rate and develop assistant manager so they can eventually become store managers ! It was never about control for me but I have a manager too , they have expectations as well 😩😩

Being a manager is delegating and making a difference! I became a manager for the people but that doesn’t mean I wanna be “controlling” I wanna push people to be better and help people grow in work and outside. I work with a lot of high school kids and this will teach them life lessons long term
